what happened to the password window

For the first time when I click on the Q17 icon, a password popup does not open. Consequently, I cannot get into my registers. How do I get QuickBooks to work again?

    OTOH, if you really did mean Quicken, are you saying that you had a password on your file & Quicken is no longer prompting you for that password when you try to open the file?

    Quicken Mac subscription. Quicken user since 1990.

    YES It is Quicken and it is no longer prompting me for the password

    What do you see when you open Quicken if you can't get to your registers?

    Can you open menu Preferences > Security? If so, what do you see there? Can you remove and reset the password on that screen?

    Oh, and have you restarted the computer?
