Auto reconcile?

I have two Bank of America VISA credit cards. When I download transactions, they are listed, and most of them match items I have already entered. I manually match or individually accept the rest, and then click "accept all".

In one account, all of the transactions are marked with an "R" for reconcile, and the window closes. Done. For the other account, I get an additional window showing remaining unreconciled charges and credits I have entered, with the balance showing zero. I have to click "Finish" to get that window to close and have the transactions change from "c" to "R". As far as I can tell, my online settings for downloaded transactions are identical for both accounts. What setting am I missing?

In general, for automatic reconcile what is supposed to happen is that if the reconcile passes no dialog.  If it fails put up the dialog.  So, for whatever reason it sounds like Quicken thinks the reconcile is failing.

But it isn't - the dialogue I get shows the accepted transactions with a checkmark, the online balance matching the balance in Quicken, and the difference zero. Any idea how I can reset this?

    Try Validate and Repair.

no new transactions since last download to test it on, but I have done Validation fairly recently and hasn't changed this. Validation now reports no issues. Thanks anyway!

Note that if it was happening to me my last resort would be to create a manual account and move the transactions from the old account to the new one, and then delete the old account and setup the new one for downloading.

P.S. because of a long-standing problem with "Move Transactions" that requires a prompt for every reconciled transaction, it would be using Copy Transactions instead.

nah, not worth the trouble - I can close the additional window. Note I have disabled transaction download and re-enabled it, which has not fixed the issue. Just disconcerting that there are so many minor bugs distributed throughout the program...

I note that my brokerage accounts have never auto-reconciled - they always show the the window with all outstanding transactions, check mark next to the downloaded ones, and difference between online and Quicken balances (which should be zero if I don't have a typo), and I have to close it by saying "Finish". I wish it would not present the dialog at all if the difference is zero.

My settings are: auto-reconcile OFF, reconcile using online balance checked. Identical for the two BOA credit cards, one of which presents the dialog, one does not.

Even though the checkmark is there in the investment accounts auto-reconcile has never really been supported.  I have noted that lately when I have had that setting on a dialog would come up after downloading transactions, but it was always blank (even the buttons have nothing on them) and useless.
