Is there a way to automatically connect Quicken to my checking account at Desjardins? When I add an account with Desjardins, I am only given the option to add an offline account

It sounds like you are trying to set up Express Web Connect; however, only Web Connect is supported for Desjardins. In other words, the connection method you are trying to establish is not supported. You need to initiate the Web Connect process from the Desjardin online banking website, not from Quicken. And, Web Connect downloads must be initiated from the financial institution's online banking site every time you want to perform a download.
