Hello, I am brand new and trying to set up a brokerage account that is in Canadian funds but has both US and Canadian stocks. I can not get Quicken to balance. Any suggestions?

In Q, an account can only have a single currency associated with it. SO, you'll need 2 accounts in Q for your investment holdings. One in CAD and one in USDI'm assuming here that the US stocks were bought with USD. If that's incorrect, please let me know. And, please further explain your "can not get Quicken to balance" comment.
