How do I add a beginning balance and historical transactions to an existing account

I'm trying to add historical transactions to an account that has already been created and transactions downloaded for the past year from the bank. I need to add old transactions from statements prior to downloading ... and a new beginning balance. How should I do this? Thank you!

    Nothing is/should be locked in any way.  Just edit the opening balance transaction to show the date and amount of the desired opening balance in the past, and enter all of the transactions that you want.   You'll have to remember to enter the year also in the date field, as if you just enter month/day it will default to 2023 for the year.
