Why is a login to Quicken required when opening a desktop-based QDF?

Really do not see the need for this, given my intended usage is strictly local as it was prior to migrating from the 2005 release to the current release. Can this forced login be avoided?

You might not see the need, but you are Quicken Inc trying to maintain an income stream.
And no, you can't bypass it.

If you want totally local, then you should never go past Quicken 2013.  It is the last version that is totally local.  After that, there is always a login.
