Loan Split Transactions Uncategorized [Edited]

I have a loan payment set up as a manual memorized split transaction. After recording this month's payment, the transaction is marked as "Uncategorized" and the split didn't happen. Since this split is tied to a loan, the amount of principal and interest change as payments are made.
1. How do I fix the uncategorized transaction split from this month?
2. How do I make sure this doesn't happen again next month?

1. Edit the transaction to add the principal and interest split info.
2. Ensure you are patched up to version 47.11.
