Paying My Credit Card Bill

My credit card bill is paid in full each month by an automatic debit by the credit card company. It is debited from my checking account. How do you show the payment in the credit card account? When the money is removed from my checking account I make a transaction in the category "Credit Card Payment" from within the checking account but that shows no reduction in the credit card balance. How do I set this up so the credit card balance shows a reduction equal to the amount that was paid?

You should have a separate account for the cc transactions, i.e., [CC Acct] and your payments from your [Checking Acct] should use that [CC Acct] in the category field. That will make the transaction a transfer of funds that reduces your balance in the checking account and reduces the balance you owe on your credit card account.1
