Duplicate investment assets after online update

Recently after updating the online data, nearly all of the investment assets in one of our accounts were duplicated. I installed the latest version of Quicken for Mac (6.12.4). The notes said that it included a bug fix in 6.12.3 that was supposed to address this. I found the transaction that created the duplicate assets (inserted one day prior to the first actual transactions in the account). I deleted them, ran the online update and the transactions that created the duplicate assets reappeared. These transactions show as manual entries but are not and include a note that "This is a special transaction that will automatically adjust its shares to maintain a share balance of $xxx.xx on 3/15/2023 if any transactions are added, deleted or modified."
How do I fix this? It is artificially doubling the value of the account and does not include the cost basis information.

I found a posting with a solution. I merged the securities and the issue appears to be fixed.
