Is Cloud Account Sync a requirement to use Quicken Mac v7.0.1 to sync data with Banks?

I'm switching to Quicken for Mac. I would like to continue syncing my data to my Banks, etc.; just as I did with QW. I was unable to sync until I enabled my Quicken Cloud account. I don't recall needing to do that with the Windows version (latest version).
