Setting up a recurring bill reminder for every two months

When I set up a bill reminder for every two months, it works as expected the first time, but then the next reminder occurs one month later rather than two. I'm constantly having to edit the reminder to push it out a month. This has been the case for years and doesn't seem to be getting fixed.
