Quicken is always running and updating in background, so I can't start it without ending both tasks

Automatic updates no longer work. In addition, Quicken and its automatic update are always running as Background Processes. I have to end both in Task Manager in order to open Quicken.

This should absolutely not be happening. Have you somehow blocked QWin from updating? Maybe firewalling it from the network? Or allowing anti-malware to keep it off the net? Check all your network settings and allow QWin through so it can update and run normally.
