What happened to the attachments for transactions? They're suddenly awful!

Like other users, attaching receipts to transactions is a buggy mess. When I do it, it removes all the amounts from the transaction or sometimes it just doesn't attach it and moves on. Sometimes the program freezes up. How can this be fixed. It doesn't look like something idiosyncratic on my computer, judging from other people's experiences.
