Difficulty when transferring shares from one retirement account to another retirement account

I am using Quicken for Mac, and I have been a Quicken user for many years.

I am trying to transfer all of the holdings in one retirement account to another retirement account. When I set up a new transaction and choose transfer shares, it enters transactions to remove the shares from the account but it does not actually remove the shares or reduce the market value of the account. It does appear that it entered the "add shares" transactions to the second account.

The "Transfer Shares" option states that it adds a "Remove Shares" transaction in the first account and then an "add shares" transaction to the next account where the shares are going. When I transfer the shares, how do I get it to actually remove the shares and reduce the balances of the shares in the account? Right now, the balances of the holdings in the first account did not change.

Thank you for your guidance!

Thank you very much, Rick. I think you are right on target, as I found a number of transactions that Quicken entered with a year of 1899 to try and adjust the shares in the account without my input. I have started to remove them, and you are right that the share amounts do not match 100%. Thanks for the help!
