Register suddenly off by the amount of the original opening balance

My entire register going back to 1993 is now suddenly wrong by exactly the amount of my opening balance amount from November 1993.

Did the opening balance lose the amount? That's been happening. Just type the amount in again. And put the amount in the memo in case it happens again so you know what it should be.
I'm staying on Quicken 2013 Premier for Windows.

No, the opening balance is still there. The register is showing a balance that is exactly that amount OVER what the true balance is. I put in a manual balance adjustment correction for that same opening date in 1993, but now of course my register shows a negative / incorrect balance for many years when you look at a given date.

Are you certain that the 1993 opening balance that Quicken is showing is the correct opening balance? Quicken has been known to erroneously modify opening balances.
Was your true opening balance perhaps $0.00? It sounds like if you zeroed out the opening balance, your subsequent balances would be correct (without an added adjustment transaction).
Quicken user since version 2 for DOS, now using QWin Premier (US) on Win10 Pro.

You're right! Quicken added an odd amount to the opening balance. After restoring a prior backup, the opening balance is zero and the register balances. Thanks for the help!

suggest- go thru your accounts and copy the Opening Balance amount into the Memo field of that 1st transaction- in case it happens again

It's a good idea and one that I'll implement. Thanks

For what it's worth, I had same problem. Three transactions on June 12, 13, and 14 failed to reconcile. Their sum is now my opening balance. Not sure, but there may have been a Quicken update on my machine in late June or early July. I hope Quicken is taking note of this.
Additionally, this happened to only 1 of 8 accounts in Quicken. Why the other 7 were not affected, I dunno.
