How do you get the background color in the payee column back to white with black letters
What color is it now? Gray text? If so, see the option "Gray reconciled transactions" in Edit / Preferences/ Register.
If alternating register entries use a color coded background that you don't like, see Edit / Preferences / Register, Colors button. You can change the color background in the register based on the account type, Spending, Savings, etc.
