How to force correct exchange rate in register without restarting program?

I tend to enter my stock transactions manually, and I trade US stocks. When I enter them in the US$ register, the exchange rate shows initially at 1.00000.

This causes all capital gains reports, even when selecting cad or transaction exchange rate or even usd currency to be wrong.

If I run an auto-update, the exchange rate is automatically downloaded, but it seems you still need to reboot the program for them to be updated. Anyone know if there is a way to update them without restarting Quicken?
