How do I merge two account files which contain the older transactions in one with the newer transact

Using Quicken for Mac 7.2.1 and Mac OS 13.4

I am manually down loading transactions From one Pen Fed Account using QFX transfer to the corresponding account file on Quicken. After a recent release I found that a new account file was created with the recent transactions.

How do I merge the new and old files and download the data only to the merged file only

You are correct. The transactions are being downloaded to a different account within the same file.

I have subsequently deleted the Quicken created new account and zeroed out the balance , then tried downloading manually all the affected transactions to the established account. This seem to be working well.

do you have any thoughts as to why Quicken would create a new account instead of assigning the data to the existing account . I would like to try to avoid this situation in the future. I do have have about four years of data on that account and Pen Federal does not permit automatic downloads from Quicken.
