would like to create a NAS Network Attached Server for backup via Apple Mac Time Machine….

would like to be sure to have backups of old photos - and have USB option to make physical copy to take offsite

I've been using a QNAP for a few years now (the TS-653D, which they no longer make, I think the closest current model is the TS-664). I mainly use it as a PLEX server but I also do Time Machine backups to it. While it has a USB port, I don't know if you can use it to make a copy of the data stored on the NAS as the NAS stores way more than would fit on any single drive. I use the Mac to transfer data to a USB drive for offsite backups.
