is there a way to split a syncing bank/investment account that I hold jointly with my wife so that it calculates half the balance instead of the whole thing?

    Basically no. If it's syncing, it will download all transactions and positions. There's no way to have it split.

    If you're trying to get your net worth to looks right, you could put in a fake non-connected account that you manually update to have a negative balance of half the real account's. That's the only idea I've got.

    Thanks, that's what I've been doing. Would be a nice feature to be able to have it split to get the net worth right
