After a Backup - my credit card transactions were missing (edit)

After a backup several of my credit cards showed a balance but there was no transactions in the account. I had to restore a backup several days earlier to regain those same transactions and then update with all the new charges incurred since that past backup.

There was nothing in the community which addressed missing transactions without a download.
