Reports - Display tab setting - Show Splits toggle doesn't work

QKN Windows - latest release - has been happening for many months.
My reports are always showing split details for transactions. This is despite deselecting Show Splits in the display tab of settings.
This forces me to go to register to determine the transaction total, which is what I'm usually looking for in my reports.
