Quicken 2013 install on Win11 (edit)
Can I cable my 4 year old Dell desktop direct to my new Dell desktop and transfer old Quicken program and data files directly, to the new Dell? I see cables advertised for $40-$60 for large data transfers, new computer setup, etc, which is what I am asking about. I have a Quicken 7 disk I originally purchased from Costco, & updated to Quicken 13 online, 4 years ago. (I downloaded the Q-13 at no charge from Quicken I believe, so do not have it's license per se or a disk.) Quicken is currently located on my 4 year old Dell. It still works perfectly, used for home finances, printing checks, etc. I became a paying user of Quicken in the 1990s, and now resisting to the "bitter end" paying yearly dues, if I can.
Or are there any other workarounds?
Thank you for any helpful advice.
Rob

No. Programs have to be installed. But you can get 2013 for free. It’s under Converting from Quicken 2004-2009. 2013 is the last good version before they started requiring an ID.
You can copy the data file, it ends in .qdf and should be in your Documents in a Quicken folder. Just copy the whole Quicken folder over.

most programs need to be installed, as they create numerous entries, folders, files, and other tidbits beyond what you normally see. There are “transfer” programs that can help with this process, but you really don’t need all that as mentioned above … by @volvogirl
And just to verify what version you are running … Help —> About Quicken

Thank you for the quick response. 1 more detail I should have included in 1st email… Will Quicken 13 cooperate with Windows 11 and vice versa?
Thanks again!

I've heard it works on Windows 11. I'm using it on Windows 10. It's free so you can try it.
