Provide Safe Transfer Unlinking, PLEASE!

It's absolutely absurd that Quicken prioritizes an incorrect Transfer linkage over actual transactions downloaded from financial institutions!

When transactions are downloaded from financial institutions have relatively high credibility [consider the source].

When those transactions are identified by Quicken as a Transfer due to some [mind-bogglingly absurd] guesswork, that relationship has relatively low credibility [again, consider the source!].

So… If I unlink those transactions by changing the category of one of them, you ABSOLUTELY SHOULD NOT BE DELETING THE OTHER ONE! Come on, this is ridiculous! People have been complaining in these forums about how absurd this is for a loooong time. PLEASE FIX IT!

You know from the internal data whether the linked transaction was 'auto-created' by a user's manual action, or imported from a financial institution. Use some common sense in the implementation, PLEASE. Never auto-delete a downloaded transaction without first offering the user the option to keep it.

And please don't point out there's an option for disabling transfer detection!! (A) it's enabled by default and a new user wouldn't know what a nightmare they're creating for themselves if they don't disable it before adding their accounts (B) scanning for transfers isn't perfect, it makes mistakes [and user's make mistakes]…

Bottom Line: DELETING DOWNLOADED TRANSACTIONS WITHOUT WARNING AND WITH AN OPTION TO KEEP THE ORPHANS is ludicrous. Please fix it.

    You can get a warning.

Edit → Preferences → Transfer Detection → Confirm possible transfers before entering in register

In my opinion everyone should have this selected, given this is all guess work.

I totally agree though that even if one selected to make two downloaded transactions a transfer by mistake, they should be able to undo it without losing one of those transactions.
