R52.28 New subscriber, can't add accounts as the Add Account screen is blank

Not a good first look. I've closed and reopened the software, restarted my computer. Created a new quicken file. If Quicken can't handle something basic like adding an account why did I pay you for this software?

    wow - a little more details…
1 - where did you get Quicken - retail, website, etc ?
2 - what version and does it recognize your subscription …. Help —> About Quicken
3 - do you have ANY accounts setup - or is this your very first attempt ?
4 - where is your Quicken data file created - local C drive or ?

    Maybe just a re-install will resolve -

Nothing in the add account window is responsive except the cancel button and x in the top right.

Hard to diagnose without hands on keyboard, but a couple of suggestions:

    1. It sure looks like Quicken isn't able to connect to the server — check that you are connected to the internet and that a firewall isn't blocking Quicken access.
    2. Try selecting the Offline Account tab and create the account manually. Then (making sure you're connected to the internet) set up transaction downloads.

If neither of these helps, then the next step is to contact Quicken support.

Unfortunately the window is completely non-responsive. Clicking on the Offline Account tab doesn't do anything.

    Really weird - haven't seen that happen….

the Quicken Add Account screen uses a local config text file that lists all the contracted financial institutions -
so should not imply any issues with online Internet access

    See if you have a file - FIDIR.TXT - located here….
C:\ProgramData\Quicken\Inet\Common\Localweb\Banklist\…. might be located under \2018\ or \2019\
