USAA reconciliation problems on-going
Hi gang. Ever since USAA switched to EWC+, I have not been able to reconcile my accounts. We know it's because Quicken can't get it's act together on the pending transactions. Quicken used to work great, but now it's basically like back to paper and pencil. This is not what I'm are paying for. I'm so glad Quicken can update their logo and feed us a "heartfelt" video of how that will cure all, but, how about fixing basic problems first. I have sent reports to Suppport per SOP as requested, but no response. I have followed the community discussions, and watched the boiler plate responses from Quicken saying they have escalated the problem and no time frame is known, then the discussions are closed with no actual resolution. It's now the middle of October 2023 and I still can't reconcile my USAA accounts.
Come on Quicken, it's time to actually fix the problem.

You want to reconcile your accounts, its simple stop reconciling to the Online Balance. Reconcile to the "Statement Balance" which can be balance at any time unlike the name "statement" implies, but for that you will have to look at it at the USAA website. If when you type Ctrl+R it goes right into the reconcile go into the Account Details → Online Service tab and deselect "Reconcile using online balance".
As for this being a Quicken problem, I'm almost 100% sure it isn't. Yes, Quicken played with the idea of allowing the user to be able to select to download pending transactions, and that was a disaster. But that means that they went back to the original policy that pending transactions shouldn't be included in the data downloaded from the financial institutions.
Express Web Connect + (unlike Express Web Connect) is similar to Direct Connect in the sense that they are both using standardized protocols. So, basically nothing changes from Intuit to Quicken's Cloud dataset/account to Quicken Desktop data file for different financial institutions. But the results on this from different financial institutions has been different, clearly indicating that the differences are at the financial institution.
For instance, I'm not sure if it is still going on, but this definitely was happening. For Chase, for only checking/savings accounts, only on weekends and holidays the Online Balance downloaded included pending transactions. For all other cases, it didn't.

And for the record, inconsistent Online Balances is nothing new. It has always been a "great if it works for your financial institution", sorry if not, go back to manual entering the reconcile balance and date kind of feature.
BTW in some cases it is a matter of waiting, for the financial institution to get the two back in sync (they update the two at different times).
