If you are referring to the Account Bar that is typically displayed on the left hand side of the Quicken window, you can right click anywhere in the Account Bar, select Show Amounts, then select either Show Current Balance in Account Bar or Show Ending Balance in Account Bar.

The All Transactions link that appears near the top of the Account Bar opens the All Transactions register. A handy place to see and search for transactions from all of your accounts.

If you are actually looking in the "All Transactions" "register, the total there is just the total of the transactions displayed, and that isn't your net worth unless you own zero securities. These are cash transactions, and don't include ones that affect your securities like Buy and Sell. This "virtual register"'s Total column is only useful for "summing up" whatever you have filtered on.
