Quicken won't open

Every second or third time when I try to open Quicken (Deluxe for Windows) I get a message that Quicken is unable to pen the data file—- and then it gives the correct file name. When I go to the drop down File window and click on that very file name at the bottom it opens. Also when I choose Open Quicken File and choose tha very file, it opens ok. So it's annoying but not disastrous. I am careful to Exit properly and nothing has changed with my Quicken program (not new update).

    See this:

Is your active Quicken data file stored in a OneDrive folder? If so, have you tried pausing OneDrive before starting Quicken.

It is in a oneDrive folder (and that is farily new). I don't know how to pause OneDrive. And why might that be a solution?

Launching Quicken the File doesn't open, says it isn't available. This happened after last update. Someone did not do good testing. I have to click on file to open my Quicken File EACH AND EVERY TIME.

I see that others are having this issue. This is the first time in more than a decade that this problem has arisen.

PLEASE FIX - IT WAS CAUSED BY THE LAST UPDATE.

Try pausing OneDrive (right click on the cloud icon in the system tray) before running Quicken. It's an OneDrive update that's causing the problem.

  • This issue is also happening with my Quicken. Sometimes the file opens, sometimes it doesn't. Also, the problem didn't begin happening until after the last update. Thanks for the fix - I'll try it the next time around (in the interim when file did not open, I merely selected the file on OneDrive). That said, I hope that the suggested work around is merely a temporary fix until this matter is corrected. Come on Quicken, you can do better.

@GeoffreyRadbill, It's an OneDrive update that's causing the problem.
