American Express reporting "Sorry. We encountered an error. (It's not your fault.)"

In what well may be the most patronizing and useless error message of all time, when trying to activate One Step Update for American Express, I get the enclosed error message.

Dear Quicken: since I am paying you a subscription fee for this service, I expect to see an error message that has full information about what went wrong, why the update is broken, and what to do about it.

I have already clicked on Help / Report a problem… and submitted the same screenshot.
