This years end of year of archiving is messed up...

I did an end of year archive, the 2023 data file ending on 1-5-2024, 12-31-2022 thru 1-5-2024 Then I created a new file 2024 that should have shown the 12-31-2023 last transaction and then forward to 1-5-2024. It did, but the beginning balance was Wrong, the last reconcile amount was wrong the ending balance of the register was wrong! Then I called quicken support and he created a new file, created a qif and imported it into the new file from 1-1-2024 forward, telling me that the end of year archiving doesn't work! This morning I created a dummy 2023 file to try the archiving again and what I ended up with was two files from 12-31-2023 to 1-7-2024... It trimmed the original 2023 year long file. with the notice that I did not have authorization to do this. NOW, I've been doing this, creating single year files since 2004 and back to 1983, and NEVER had these issues. Quicken has a real problem! I've included a picture of the end of year setup. I moved the beginning date of the new file back to 12-31-23 rather than 1-1-24, but that didn't help.
The archive file date is faded and can't be changed. The archive in past years has been the current file for the last year plus where ever I ended up when I archived. In this case 1-5-24

So the first time I did it, the new file for this year had the wrong beginning balance, wrong last reconcile amount and wrong ending balance. The transactions were not in the same order with the deposits scattered rather than first.

The tech created a qif and did an import into a new file. Never had to do that before. Did not
know about the end of year archive!

My test today on a copy of a dummy file for 2023, created two file for this year and erased last year from the 2023 file. Also came up with a warning that I was not authorized to do this. Oh, and when I clicked the new file in its stored location with file manager, up comes a message that administrator user mode not supported in Quicken!

Be doing this for many, many years. This is totally buggy.
