How best to categorize credit card payments from a checking account

In 2007 quicken all of my accounts were listed as categories in the category list within brackets [ ]. I would simply select the relevant credit card account as my category. The payment would display in the relevant credit card account. In this version, they aren't listed as category options (though I can manually type the account name within brackets. I've read the help section about "transfers" and "linked transfers" but I don't understand what they're saying and wonder if one of those would be better?

Thank you, Lars

What about "Linked Transfers" vs Transfers?

I think those are the same thing. You can use either the Transfer column or by putting the other account name in the Category column with square brackets.

I'm staying on Quicken 2013 Premier for Windows.

Thank you both. I do believe the two are different due to reading the help section, but it wasn't clear….

The only unlinked transfer I know of is the one set aside for credit card payments, but you'd only use that if you weren't tracking your credit card accounts in Quicken.
