Greetings - I ran "update now" several times since the last backup on 1/15, then my computer died. Of course I'm also getting the message that the cloud data is newer than the local data. Is it true that the cloud file can't be downloaded to the local file? Do I have any options other than to install the 1/15 backup on my new computer and then run "update now"? What happens to the newer data in the cloud dataset? It must include both changes I made with the web app just today as well as the "update now" updates I made.

Thank you!

    just to clarify -
    The UPDATE NOW usually refers to the downloading of transactions from your banks and brokerages

    The SYNC usually refers to the uploading/downloading of transactions to the Quicken Cloud

    QWin - R54.16 - Win10

    Agree! I think your answer to my first two questions is NO. The answer to the 3rd question will be forever a mystery. I think running a new update and then syncing is about as close as I can get. Thanks for your time!

    You can't have it both ways. The Quicken data file is the master. If you restore to a past copy of the Quicken data file, then one way or another you are going to lose the changes in the Quicken Cloud dataset (that is what Sync to Mobile/Web use to hold the data you view).

    To get them back in sync you are going to have do a reset of the Cloud data, which will send a fresh copy of what is in the Quicken data file to the Quicken Cloud dataset.

    Edit → Preferences → Mobile & Web → Reset your cloud data

    @Chris_QPW

    You can have it both ways.

    is that "can" or "can't"

    QWin - R54.16 - Win10

    Boy, do I hate that when I have a typo on such critical a word!

    It "can't"!!!

    I have updated the original post, and with it in bold.

    I do that more often than I care to mention. After reading your very good explanation, I inferred the "can't". The good stuff was in your expanded explanation, which I appreciate. We are up and running smoothly. Thank you!
