One Step Update lag, but on steroids!

Hey everyone,

I know this is a known issue so I don't have much expectation that my problem will be fixable, but the 'one step update' on my quicken is taking hours to complete. It's been happening since Sunday. Prior to that, 'one step update' took a long time, maybe 20 minutes, but now it is completely unmanageable. I use quicken everyday to manage my personal and business finances, I'm starting to get stressed out that this is a big time problem.

I've been surfing the community posts for about a day trying to find anyone with the same issue, but no luck. Anyway, just wanted to take a shot in the dark that someone out there has a suggestion as to why it might be taking so long.

Peace.

If it worked in the past, restore a known-good data file backup.

Which of your banks are taking too long to complete? Or are they erroring out with server time-out errors after 30 minutes?

Have you enabled a VPN or made any other changes to Windows or your network configuration recently?

A reboot of both your network router and your PC might help clear things up.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've been trying to avoid the restore from a last known good backup file (it's from a month ago, bad job by me, I know) but might be my only option.

I have 5 investment accounts that complete. The rest of my accounts, and there are many, just hang and read 'processing data' on the One Step Update Progress window.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled quicken. Validated and super-validated my file. I haven't done anything to my network.

@jlaureano0615 have you tried a "copy file"? Click on File→Copy or Backup File. Then under "Advanced Options" choose "Create a Copy or Template" and then hit Next. Fill in the appropriate Copy options and then hit "Save Copy". Be sure to read the note on the right hand side of the screen. In your copied file, you will need to set up online services for all your accounts.

This may seem like a lot of work but it gives you a "fresh start". It gives you a new fileset ID, cleans up some file corruption, and resets your online connections for a clean start.

It may not work, but it's worth a try.
