401(k) transactions are not reducing cash

I just entered a bunch of transactions when I noticed something strange.
Each buy shows a corresponding Balancing Cash Adjustment. Some don't even show a cash amount, only showing N/A.
I checked some older transactions and they show the option to "Use cash for this transaction" and "From this account's cash balance."
These new transactions I've just input are missing this.
What did I do wrong?
Thanks.

I don't understand this. As soon as I enter the security, the use cash balance box disappears.

I tried something - entering a transaction with today's date. The cash balance disappears as soon as I enter the old date. I'm going back trying to reconcile my 401k that I neglected for years. I may need to use today's date, save, then go back and change the date. What a pain.
