Incorrect Paper Size Printing Checks On HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e
I receive "Incorrect paper size" from an HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e when printing a single standard size (8.25"x3") check from Quicken. Paper size is set as Letter on the 8025e. This error occurs on both WiFi and USB communications.
I use Quicken Classic Premier, Version R54.16, Build 27.1.54.16.
This error did not occur when using an HP OfficeJet Pro 8025, which failed last month and was replaced with the 8025e.
Thank you for any suggestions, Hank

When powering up the new printer for the first time, did you notice if Windows reinstalled new HP printer drivers?
You may want to check the printer configuration if there's a new printer driver available directly from the HP website. Whatever comes from the Windows installation materials may not be up to date.Did you also go thru Printer Setup / For printing checks in Quicken?
Did you remember to setup the correct options for Partial Page printing?
When actually printing the check, did you select the correct options for printing the first check as a partial page?Workaround:
If you can't resolve the partial check page printing issue, you can try to use form leaders to feed your printer with a proper 8.5x11" sheet while printing a partial 1- or 2-checks page in normal portrait orientation.
See for an example of form leaders. Check your local office supply store, search on the Internet or order from Intuit or Amazon. My 2cents' worth:
I use Voucher Checks (1 business size check + 2 stubs on an 8.5x11" sheet). My printers do not have a manual feed tray or 2nd paper tray that can easily be reconfigured to feed partial pages (1 or 2 checks left from a 3-checks-per-page sheet), so for my occasional check printing needs Voucher Checks are easiest to use.
When making a purchase decision for a new supply of check forms and considering your own check stock to use, consider how easy or difficult it is to feed special forms or odd-size partial pages into your printer.0 -
UKR, thank you for your response.
I performed the full setup for the 8025e. Though I did not uninstall the previous 8025 printer which may have confused the 8025e procedure. I may consider uninstalling all printers and start from scratch with the 8025e. Unfortunately, HP has made routing through their website quite cumbersome which may prevent deleting both 8025 and 8025e from my inventory.
BTW, HP installed the 8025e in my computer as an "HP OfficeJet Pro 8020 series PCL-3" device. Apparently PCL-3, among other Printer Control Languages, overrides all installed drivers and does its own thing, which may be the cause of my issue. ERGO, is there a way to prevent PCL from being installed as my 8025e driver?

With the new printer powered off, try uninstalling all HP printer definitions, then reboot Windows.
Power up the new printer (on USB or wired Ethernet connection) and let Windows discover it again.I'm not familiar with this (apparently old and now unsupported, says Google) printer and can't answer your specific installation question. Sorry.
If making the proper partial page setup and printing decisions doesn't get you past the paper size error, try form leaders or change to Voucher Checks, to totally eliminate that partial page issue.
