the transfer is to an account that no longer exists in Quicken....and more
Operating Quicken on Windows. My issues started about 6-8 months ago. I thought I had it fixed and then it started again. My accounts through one account are all messed up. I get errors that "the transfer is to an account that no longer exists in Quicken". also, error "you cannot transfer into your mutual fund account prior to a placeholder transaction." It won't let me transfer money from a checking account to an investment/retirement account. I had no problem. Would I be better off just disconnecting those accounts? Thank you.

Check your investment account register to eliminate / correct all placeholder transactions.
When that's been done, your transfer transactions should work again … I hope.About Placeholders (Quicken Windows)
"N/A" in certain fields of an investment transaction indicates that you have
Placeholder transactions in your account that need to be deleted and replaced
with the correct Buy / Sell / etc. transaction that should have been recorded here.
For more about Placeholders please go into Quicken Help (press the F1 key from
anywhere in Quicken) and perform a Contents search for "placeholder".
