it's also pretty amazing - along with having to VOTE on fixing a bad idea -
that the status of this thread is "under consideration" -
So…. they did this on purpose - and are now "thinking about" putting it back to the way everyone wants ?

10 days after this subject was put 'under consideration'. I wonder if this is gathering dust purposefully.

Are you going to cut/paste the old code back into the program or let us dangle between hope and disappointment?

Software developer here for a commercial Windows program similar in age to Quicken. I want this "fixed" as well, but you need to temper your expectations. "Gathering dust purposefully" and "dangle between hope and disappointment" implies ill intent, and I don't think that's the case here. It's just matter of bread-and-butter software release planning.

Even if it were a simple matter of "cut/paste the old code back into the program" that change would need to planned into a future release (the status would change from "under consideration" to "planned"), which may not even be the "next" one, then tested with that future release to make sure it doesn't break any of the new stuff they did (pending transactions, I recall) when they originally changed this (it's possible it was changed for a some reason to accommodate to the new stuff ). Given that Quicken never shares plans and dates of future releases, this will take a while, measurable in (hopefully a small number) of weeks, not days.

A software development team could accelerate this process if the change was a horrible breaking one, preventing use of the program, and/or affecting large numbers of people. While bothersome, the change to the downloaded transactions IMHO is none of these things. While it looks different, it's still functional. My guess is that if Quicken decides to "fix" this, it's relatively low priority and will be inserted into some future release when it's convenient for the developers (i.e. it doesn't impact their working on something else higher priority).

My two cents. I'm not being an apologist, this is just the reality of commercial software development.

I am staying off this problem version until this issue and the tax planner issues are fixed.

You can revert to an older version that does not experience the problem while waiting for resolution.

For example, version R55.26, does not seem to have this issue for me.

    Suggestion.

Maybe a bit dramatic. Didn't want this thread to go stale.

Getting a determination before attention moves on would be desirable.

I haven't updated; hope not to until this is decided. But that lasts until a meaningful update is dropped and vetted.

Any progress on the May 7 'under consideration' notice?

Glad that a Google search brought me to this thread so I could add my vote. The new sparse format for downloaded transactions is just plain stupid!

I see that the new report format option allows for alternating shaded lines. I guess they transferred that feature from the downloads. If you have more than one download for a specific account, there is some light shading on alternate lines per transaction. This delineation could be made darker.

Was this fixed in R57.16? Checking.
