One Step Update

For the last several days, One Step Update has been freezing; I have to close it via the task manager. I'm using the most current version of Quicken Classic for Windows. I read through some threads in early April about the same issue but no there were no solutions. Now, it's April 29th, any brilliant ideas for suggestions?

If you haven't done so already, please do the following actions:

    1. Run BOTH Validate and Supervalidate to attempt to repair your Quicken data file.
    2. If nothing helps, try to restore your Quicken data file from an Automatic or Manual backup taken just prior to the problems first occurring. https://www.quicken.com/support/how-backup-or-restore-your-quicken-data

    Validate and Supervalidate instructions
First save a backup file prior to performing these steps
    Validate:
    • Click File
    • Select Validate and Repair File...
    • Select Validate File
    • If the data file contains investment accounts also select "Rebuild investing lots".
    • If you suspect that a damaged Quotes Price History causes your problems, also select "Correct investing price history" functions "Delete" or "Repair and Rebuild".
    • Click OK
    • Review the Data Log. Anything interesting in there, worthwhile posting here?
    • Close Quicken (leave it closed for about 30 secs)
    • Reopen Quicken and see if the issue persists.

    Super Validate:
    • Click File
    • Press and hold both CTRL and Shift keys while you click Validate and Repair File...
    • Select Supervalidate File
    • Click OK
    • Review the Data Log. Anything interesting in there, worthwhile posting here?
    • Close Quicken (leave it closed for about 30 secs)
    • Reopen Quicken and see if the issue persists.

I am having a similar problem—perhaps the same. When I do an update—whether one step or for a specific account—Quicken freezes for about 2 minutes before bringing up the "Enter Vault Password" prompt. After this, the update takes the usual length of time.

This problem began about a week ago (when I think I updated to version 55.26). It still occurs in version 56.9 (that dropped today).

I have both validated and supervalidated my data file and no issues were found. I have restored an old version of my data file (before the problem began) and the freeze occurs using it. So the problem appears to have been introduced in 55.26

OK, I see the problem. Quicken appears to have an issue when updates are requested over a VPN. When my VPN is disabled, I don't get the freeze.

The Validate and Repair process worked. THANK YOU! I'll be hanging on to the instructions for a few days in case problem re-emerges. Thanks all for you suggestions.
