Filtering budget categories

I want to display the top level group "Auto" in the budget, but would like to filter out the "New Auto Purchase" subcategory so that it does not get factored into the budget summary. I know I can just choose the various "Auto" subcategories (slipping "New Auto Purchase" instead of the top level, but that clutters up my budget screen with 7-8 other subcategories.

just curious if all the other subs are current expenses ?
and your thinking of making New Purchase part of that vs creating a new Category by itself ?

Yes, the other subs are current expense (i.e. fuel, parking, maintenance, etc.). I would like to keep the new "Purchase" subcategory under the top level "Auto" header in order to keep all the "Auto" expense together for tax reporting purposes, but not showing up in the budget as it is a rare purchase.
