Sorting the Investment Register vs the Banking Register - Sort options - (edit)

Quicken typically offers 12 Sorting methods for the most Account Registers in the "Sorting options" dropdown menu available within the "Gear Icon" menu.

Just to be clear , it appears that currently "Investments" Account Registers do NOT have access to the "Sorting options" dropdown menu.

In any case, each and everyone of these 12 sorting methods are useful for various reasons.

Quicken also provides the user with the ability to quickly sort the Register by a specific column simply by clicking on most of the Register's available "Column Header Labels" located at the top of each column in the Registers.

I would like to suggest allowing the user to select a "Preferred" method for Sorting the Date Column. There are currently three different "date" sorting methods available within "Sorting options" dropdown menu located within the "Register Settings Gear" menu:

  1. Sort by basic "Date"
  2. Sort by "Order Entered"
  3. Sort by "Date/Order Entered"

I prefer to keep my Registers sorted by "Date/Order Entered". But there are always going to be times when I need to utilize one of the other 2 available "date" sorting methods available within the "Sorting options" Dropdown menu located within the "Gear Icon" menu.

However, currently when the user clicks a Register's "Date Column Header Label" to quickly sort the Register by the "Date" column - it ALWAYS results in just the basic "Date" sort order. I am suggesting that the perhaps the user should be able to select a setting in the application "Register Preferences" to select which method of the 3 "date" sorting options is preferred. I would select the option to sort column the by the "Date/Order Entered" method. Obviously, the user could always revert to using the current "Sorting options" dropdown menu available in the standard "Gear Icon" menu.

I would also like to suggest relocating the "Sorting options" out as a separate "Sorting Option" Dropdown Box located at the top of the Account Register to the left of the "Filter" Dropdown Boxes.

Sorting an Account Register is a very useful & important function !!!

Currently the "Sorting option" menu is buried within the "Gear Icon" menu and requires the user to execute three "clicks" to execute wither the "Date / Entered by" method or the "Ordered by" method. I am simply suggesting that these software be modification could allow the user to accomplish these tasks with just one click.

Thanks,

You can add the sort options to the Action Bar, basically accomplishing what you want.

Quicken user since version 2 for DOS, now using QWin Premier (US) on Win10 Pro.

always learning…. WHERE or WHAT is the "Action Bar" - it's the area next to the Settings/Gear icon
Here are 2 added action items - Reconcile Shares and Edit Account Details -
BUT… I don't think the Investments Register has a "Sorting Options" item -
vs the Banking Register which has options that only really apply to that world
