Unhelpful question during One Step Update

This question comes up during One Step Update. Without being able to stop the process, open the account in question, and research it is not possible to answer. Generally, I click "No" then check for duplicate transactions. How would anyone know how to answer this?

Thanks!

How exactly is the Citi Cards transaction recorded in your Checking account? What category do you use? Something other than "[Citi Cards (AA)]" (or whatever the credit card account name is, in [square brackets]) to record a correct transfer from checking to pay credit card?

In Edit / Preferences / Transfer detection please review the settings about Transfer Transactions.
IMHO, you should have enabled both "Scan downloaded …" and "Confirm possible transfers …"
I guess that's what you have enabled because that's what causes the question to pop up. So, I can only guess that there's something incorrect about how you originally categorized the credit card payment transaction.

Thank you. But at the particular moment the question is put forth - DURING One Step Update, one cannot answer the yes/no question without stopping the process to figure it out. At which point, yet, all the lovely suggestions are taken. I am not opposed to the suggestions for what to do AFTER One Step Update is completed. But DURING One Step Update I am not able to answer the yes/no question. My question is why put this prompt in the middle of One Step Update if one cannot answer it at that moment?

Are you automatically accepting downloaded transactions during OSU?
If so, try turning if off for this account and see if this message is delayed until after OSU has completed and you begin manually reviewing and accepting downloaded transactions.

This is beginning to look to me like a situation where the programmer was trying to be helpful, but did not consider the situation during OSU, when automatically accepting downloaded transactions …

@DJElmore - you must be downloading transactions directly to your account register? That question usually pops up when you are posting reminder transactions to your account register. What it is really asking is "Is this transaction the same as the one already in your account register?" In my opinion the safest way to answer this question is "No". Otherwise, the new transaction will be matched with the existing transaction already in Quicken and then seem like it wasn't downloaded. On the flip side, you might get a duplicate transaction. I think what you are currently doing is exactly right thing.
