Changing a transaction from Transfer to Expense line

Hi, somewhat new to all of this. Would appreciate some help.

I have 4 banking accounts with a single bank, only 2 of which are in Quicken (checking and savings). The other two are my kids' joint accounts. I all too regularly transfer money 🙄 from my checking (in Quicken) to their checking (not in Quicken), and when those transactions are pulled down from the bank, they seem to be hard coded as transfers. Presumably that's because on the banking side they are.

But I don't want to have my kid's joint accounts in Quicken, and I can't figure out how to re categorize the transfers between my checking my kids checking on the banking side as a straight up expense (like "Allowance"). It seems to be forcing me to pick an pick an existing banking account or create a new one.

Any thoughts very much appreciated… with gratitude.

Many thanks!

you could also just create/add the kids accounts to Quicken - even if offline/manual -
BUT - on the Edit Account Details - [x] them to be Keep As Separate - so they are not included in any reports or financial calcs -

You appear not to be showing the Check # column in your checking register. Go to the Columns menu and add it.

If the Check # column contains "TXFR", Quicken will restrict that transaction to only be a transfer, preventing you from categorizing it. It could be downloading that way from your bank. All you have to do is delete the word TXFR and you'll be back in control.

interesting choices for your Register -
why…. Posting Date - Downloaded Payee - Download Memo vs your manual Memo entry - Amount -
and off screen from mine - …. Payment - CLR - Deposit - Balance ?

Here is our checking account -
