More on American Express Savings Issues

I am on Quicken Classic Premier on a PC. For a number of years I had no issue updating transactions from two AMEX Savings accounts through Quicken's One Step Update. A few days ago, I was unable to get transactions. This morning, Quicken announced when I signed in that a new "name" was now associated with AMEX Savings, and I would need to "Reauthorize". After several attempts, I called American Express Savings for assistance. I was told that their "new" security system will not allow "third party transaction downloads". So … this is NOT a Quicken issue, but a problem with Amex security blockage. I have submitted a complaint through Amex to reconsider this backward step and allow connection through Quicken as they have for years. I made it clear that there are numerous other Hi Yield Savings banks that I can move my money to. I'll give it a few days to see if any response is forthcoming.

I had a delay from notification to actual reauthroize dialog (12 hours?) but succeeded making the change and my HYSA is working as it always did. I think you got a bad CS @Doug

It does seem to actually work (that is, it can download transactions), so the CS seems to have it wrong. BUT… it requires MFA every time you connect and (at least for me) reports the account as "closed" and I have to re-connect the account (every. single. time.)

So it is definitely broken in a number of ways (just search the Quicken community).

I'm still not able to connect at all to my two American Express HYSA's. I tried setting up using existing accounts and American Express-Banking. Nope! Then I tried establishing a new account using American Express-Banking. Nope.

On both tries, I do receive a request from AMEX to enter a code which they text to me. When I enter the code, I still get the "Oops" message asking me to try again in a few hours. I assume from this activity that American Express actually DOES recognize my login credentials, but something on the Quicken side is not properly allowing the link. I'll keep waiting. No other choice I guess😂

I am also unable to connect to AMEX HYSA. I have an AMEX CC that connects without issue.

Well, a full week since Quicken acknowledged the issue with AMEX HYSA. Still, "no ETA" on a fix.

I was able to connect my HYSA using American Express Banking instead of American Express. But that method requires an auth code every time I connect.

Glad it worked for you to that extent, Brian. I've tried again this morning with no luck. It DOES send me a six digit code by text, but after I enter that, I still get the "Oops" message! Still working manually until a solution appears.

I'm having the same issue. if I reset the account, it sends me the six digit code and then it will display my HYSA account and let me link it to my existing Quicken account. BUT then it shows a 'stop' symbol next to my HYSA account in the account list (left side of screen) which says Quicken was unable to update my account and to try 'adding' the account again. at that point when I try re-adding the account, I also get the 'Oops' message.

Just tried again. Exact same as newman4282 above.

At least it now seems to recognize that I do have a HYSA! With caution, I'll say it seems closer to resolution!😀

I think the problem has been corrected! Today (7/24/24) I once again "added" the account to Quicken. It went through the process of asking for my username/pw, then it requested a code via text. I entered the code and it found the account … which I linked to my existing account. I then received some previous transactions which I reviewed. I then closed Quicken and re-opened it. Once again, I did a "One Step Update", and all accounts … including my American Express - Banking account … updated. As of right now, my Quicken is acting correctly as to the Amex account.

Try again tomorrow. I think the verification will be back. It sometimes has gone once a day for me with only one 2FA. But, I hope you are right.

Oh, well. As I said earlier … we're close! I've had a few successes doing the One Step Update, but not today. It asks for a text code, then it fails to update. Still a glitch with the AMEX HYSA's.

I have been able to connect the the Ames banking and it returns only one of two accounts and it requires a code every time. The HYSA returns but the CD account doesn’t. Amex call is useless they don’t know anything.

Still have to enter an authorization code EVERY time I update the AMEX HYSA. Can only connect via AMEX - Banking. Attempting to connect via just AMEX does not find account. The process is still broken

why aren’t we hearing anything from Quicken as what they are doing to fix this issue? They should be actively working on this!
