My brokerage account shows dividends with descripion _divinc but i csn't figure out how to categorize as dividend income
_DivInc IS the category. It's one of the special categories that Q uses for investment txn.
Have you chosen, in the Income/Expense report to include that category?
And which specific report are you looking at for this info? Because those txn show in my I & E as "Dividends".
Also, is the div cash remaining in your Q brokerage acct … or are you showing it in a "Linked Checking Acct"? If the latter, did you include that acct in the report?
fixed it thanks
If you look at the … Tools - Category List - Investment - you can see the 2 entries for Divs…. and their associated tax line items for the Tax Planner - "_DivInc" and "_DivIncTaxFree" -
@abacus _DivIncTaxFree is for those somewhat unusual instances where an investment in a taxable account pays a Div that's tax-free.
It's NOT for Divs paid in a non-taxable acct, such as an IRA. In a non-taxable acct, the acct status covers the taxability issue.
Same for the _IntIncTaxFree category, also those are much more common (e.g., Muni bonds).
