Accounts
In my account bar for my checking account my balance is different than in my check register with the register being the right balance. It like over $3000 difference. I can't figure out what is going on. Thanks

When I experience incorrect balance on a particular account, first thing I look at is Quicken's Opening Balance on that account - typically the very first line/oldest date on the Quicken account's register. Sometimes that figure gets altered after the account is deactivated and reactivated (this is a long time known sporadic issue unfortunately). Of course the assumption is that you can figure out your correct opening balance on that date by looking at your old statements (or an older backup file).
If this happens to be your case, then edit the opening balance transaction and enter the correct the balance. Once done, write the correct $ figure in the memo field of the opening balance so that if it happens again in the future, you can easily check and correct it. I suggest that you this for all of your accounts.
The other possibility is that some transactions were either deleted or never got downloaded for whatever the reason might be. To identify such case, I would spot check the balance yearly on the account to see which year the discrepancy falls in, then narrow it down monthly and so on and manually enter the missing transactions.
If this issue happened recently, maybe reverting to a backup file might be the easiest solution assuming the backup is not too old.

I tried editing the opening balance to no avail. Still have two different balances. I finally just opened a new account but now I have a lot of work ahead of me as I don’t want to use a back up from the old file in the new account in case that is corrupted. Thanks for responding, I appreciate it.
