2 Factor Authentication Suggestion

Many accounts at my Financial Institutions require 2 Factor Authentication when running an OSU (One Step Update). This requires the FI to get a location each time to send a varification code to. You pick a location each time to receive the code (screenshot 01) and the FI sends a ONE TIME VERIFICATION CODE to that location that must be typed in and sent to the FI for verification you typed in the correct ONE TIME VERIFICATION CODE (screenshot 2).
When typing in the ONE TIME verification code the default screen masks the code (screenshot 3) so it is not seen. There is a checkbox to SHOW CHARACTERS that, when checked, will show the verification code (screenshot 4).
I suggest that the default screen SHOW THE CHARACTERS BY DEFAULT with the checkbox option already checked. One can then uncheck the box if masking is desired. Remember that the One Time Code can only be used once. If you type the code while masked you can type an incorrect character without knowing thus the code will be invalid requiring you to do the 2 factor authentication again which is time consuming especially if you have several 2 Factor Authentications to do when running an OSU.
Bottom line is that I wish to see the code as I type it in without needing to check a box each time to show characters. Why would a one time code need to be masked?
