Cannot open file without an internet connection

Just spent time with support and wanted to let others know of the issue (and solution) in case they run up against it.
I frequently travel and don't always have an internet connection. If I try to open the Quicken file it just hangs after I enter my file password. I volunteer for the Red Corss so we do not always have an internet connection. When I get back to a location that has internet it will open the file. Not sure if any corruption has taken place though.
Just for clarification this is the not the Quicken ID password, this is the file password.
So, if you have a computer not connected to the internet you will NEVER be able to open your data file.
After being a user since 1989 I have to say good bye to Quicken.

    Have you tried starting Quicken AFTER putting your laptop into Airplane Mode or turning off WiFi and making sure you don't have an Ethernet cable plugged in?
