Can I convert a checking account to an investment account

Running the latest version of Quicken Business & Personal on Windows 10.

I've had a Fidelity Cash Management account for a few years that I've only used as a checking account so it's account type in Quicken is Checking.

I purchased some stocks in the account, on the Fidelity site, but it looks like I can't add them to a checking account.

Is there any way to convert the existing checking account to an investment account that uses the existing checking account as the linked checking account

There' no way to make that conversion. BUT, you can create an investment acct for Fidelity in Q, move all of the checking txn to the investment account and then set the feature to "Show Cash in a checking account".

Q will create a new checking type pseudo-account (it doesn't really exist, it just represents your cash in the investment account) and move those cash txn to the new pseudo-account.

You can then delete the old checking account.

Take a back-up before doing any of this … just in case.
