Attachement access error -"specified file could not be found"

I have been working on reducing the overall size of my QDF by deleting attachments to transactions from previous years. I have been successful; however, occasionally after deleting some of the attachments I receive an error "Quicken cannot complete your request because the specified file could not be found". In those cases, the paper clip continues to show and when attempting to access the attachment (after the deletion) the message is displayed again. I assume the attachment has been deleted at this point but would like to get that confirmed. I’d also like to understand if there is a process that cleans up the resulting mess. The mess being lots of transactions still indicating that they have an attachment but when you attempt to access the attachment you receive the “the specific file could not be found” message.

I have run validate and super validate. I have restored the QDF to a backup file and tried the process again only to get the same result.

I do not want to delete all attachments but only selective ones.

My specific questions are.

1) Are the attachments I have clicked ”delete” on and then received the error message actually being deleted?

2) Is there any way to clear the paperclip indicating there is an attachment when an attachment cannot be found? (It seems if one cannot be found the paperclip ought to go away automatically.)

I appreciate the help I have gotten from the community in the past and look forward to your help and responses again.
