I'm guessing that you should be able to create Renaming Rules because, AFAIK, the Memo field is included with the Payee field when scanning a transaction to make a usable Payee Name.
So, a Renaming Rule "If statement name contains Rogers Wirele set payee name to Rogers Wireless" should make acceptable results.Of course, you need to look for and delete any existing Renaming Rule that looks for "… contains purchase". That just messes up things.

Select a transaction and click menu View Show inspector and look at the Statement Payee field (or turn on the Statement Payee column to see them all at once). This will show you what's being transmitted from the bank. If the Statement Payee is all "purchase", then I'm afraid you're out of luck.
If the above is the case, you could try importing a QFX file instead of downloading transactions. Sometimes this could have better payee names than what is retrieved using Quicken Connect.
If, on the other hand, the Statement Payee has more meaningful info, you could likely create renaming rules for these (menu Window > Payees & Rules > Renaming Rules). For example if the statement payee is "purch Srbks", you could create a renaming rule like this:

It seems my bank has changed the way they deliver data for my checking account only..Savings and Credit card have not been changed.
NAME field shows the type of transaction i.e. purchase, deposit etc.
MEMO field shows payee name.
<NAME>Payment
<MEMO>WWW PAYMENT - 8155 ROGERS WIRELE
I guess I will have to deal with my bank

At first I didn't think it worked this way for QMac. But I think UKR is correct, even for QMac. I did a quick test and a new renaming rule did in fact look at both the Statement Payee and Statement Memo fields when applying the If Statement Name Contains renaming rules.
